Project Overview
This project consolidated methodologies and produced evidence on the costs and benefits of adaptation-focused disaster risk reduction as a major strategy for addressing the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations.
Core Program Activities

ISET-International worked with Red Cross societies in Nepal and Vietnam to undertake specific case studies on the costs and benefits of climate risk reduction in urban and rural settings. Three cases were selected for analysis:

Boat winches in Da Nang, Vietnam

Straw-bale housing in Kathmandu, Nepal

Local and national adaptation planning (LAPA/NAPA) in Nepal

ISET-International worked with Red Cross entities to identify areas where cost-benefit techniques and the adaptation suite of methodologies could strengthen the capacity of the Red Cross movement to respond to climate change and to tailor emerging methodologies to applied contexts.

ISET-International worked on the dissemination of program results and the undertaking of evidence-based advocacy in key global forums such as the Conference of the Parties (COP).
