Overview

The Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance is a multi-sector collaboration between the humanitarian sector, academia, and the private sector focusing on shifting from the traditional emphasis on post-event recovery to pre-event resilience. As an Alliance, we work to achieve our objectives through longterm flexible programming; we are eleven years into an eleven-year program that has been delivered in two Phases (Phase I from 2013-2018; Phase II from 2018-2024). As of 2023, we operate in over 250 communities in 24 countries, where we are delivering community programming; local, sub-national, and national advocacy; and generating knowledge to improve flood resilience practice, spending, and policy. The Alliance’s goals are to increase investment into pre-event resilience building by USD 1 billion and to help make 2 million people more resilient to flooding.
