Catalyzing Urban Climate Resilience: Applying Resilience Concepts to Planning Practice in the ACCCRN Program

"Catalyzing Urban Climate Resilience" describes how ten cities within the Rockefeller Foundation supported Asian Cities Climate Change Resilient Network (ACCCRN) assess climate vulnerability and apply emerging concepts of urban resilience. The ACCCRN experience offers an innovative framework for iterative shared learning and resilience planning that has been tested by practitioners over a two-year period. It provides a set of tools for building resilience in cities around the world and documents the strategies developed by ACCCRN city partners. This in an informative guide for urban practitioners and climate scientists alike. The report combines extensive discussion of resilience theory along with practical mechanisms for applying that in practical planning contexts. Case material included as part of the report documents implementation experiences involving multiple partner organizations in India, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. In addition to ISET, numerous organizations including Arup, Challenge to Change, Mercy Corps, TARU, GEAG, Thailand Environment Institute, NISTPASS, URDI, CCROM, and the Rockefeller Foundation contributed to the report and the activities on which it is based.
