María Fernanda has eleven years of experience working with the U.N. Global Environment Facility, Small Grants Program in Ecuador, where she managed grants afforded to hundreds of local grassroots organizations, made possible by foreign donors. She earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut in 2014. Her dissertation focused on the Ecuadorian environmental social movement and the promotion of the rights of nature. María Fernanda is fluent in English and is a native Spanish speaker.
