ISET-International Vietnam, Regional Hub

Viện nghiên cứu chuyển đổi Môi trường và Xã hội

The ISET-International Vietnam office was established in 2010 and engages in a wide range of innovative climate resilience and urban Disaster Risk Reduction work throughout Vietnam. The office is based in Hanoi, and has undertaken major projects in Lao Cai, Hue, Da Nang, Binh Dinh and Can Tho. Besides a strong Vietnam-based technical team, the office has an extensive network of technical staff, expert collaborators and associates in Asia and across the globe.

In Vietnam, ISET-International has successfully implemented a project portfolio valued at over $15 million on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, ADB, IIED, CDKN, IDRC and the Asia Foundation. ISET-International’s unique approach is to bring its global technical expertise to collaboration with local stakeholders—from government agencies at multiple levels to NGOs, mass organizations and academia—to deliver practical innovations that address complex, inter-disciplinary problems. Our projects are often cited as successful pilots of new and effective approaches that require not only technical insights but also changes in policy and practices at multiple scales. We support transformative change by building local capacity for sustained action.

At the national level, we work to ensure that climate resilient practices built on local experience, scientific knowledge and collaborative planning are recognized in national policies and widely shared with Vietnamese user groups. Among the partners we work with to achieve this goal are the Association of Cities in Vietnam (ACVN), the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA), the Urban Development Agency – Ministry of Construction (UDA), the Disaster Management Centre – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (DMC), the Vietnam Institute for Urban-Rural Planning (VIUP), the National Institute for Science and Technology Policy and Strategy Studies (NISTPASS), and the Climate Change Coordination Offices (CCCOs) of Da Nang, Binh Dinh and Can Tho.
